Green Day

Whichever way you slice your greens, celebrate Earth Day this weekend by putting your own spin on it.

Mount Wanda Hike

Muni to Marin: Catch Muni to the Marin Headlands: Every Sunday the 76 line makes hourly trips to Fort Cronkhite for access to abundant hiking (Hill 88 offers some of Marin's best views), lounging at Rodeo Beach, or visiting The Marine Mammal Center.

Spring Fling:
Gather the whole family and head to Slide Ranch for Spring Fling this Saturday. The Marin nonprofit is hosting the event, featuring live music, organic cuisine, and farm activities like sheep shearing and goat milking. Hands-on fun!

Do the Wave: Spend an afternoon at Half Moon Bay's newest 206-acre playground, Wavecrest, rescued from condominium development by the Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST). Relax at its little-known beach or stay high on the bluffs looking for gray whales making their northbound migration.

Wine Cycle: Ride to Quivira Vineyards' biodynamic winery—which has 200 solar panels on its roof—on the mostly flat back roads of Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley. It's 6-miles of pedaling to get to the winery from downtown Healdsburg, but the expansive patio overlooking Mount Saint Helena is the perfect place to catch your breath.

Wanda Wander: When he wasn't trekking in the Sierra, John Muir could be found hiking the land of his East Bay home. Saunter to the top of Mount Wanda for a leisurely and historic tour, stopping to relax underneath one of the many large oak trees along the ripe green hillsides.

Pony Up: Take a ride on the original green transport—a horse! Horseback trips through Sunol Regional Park take place year-round but right now the wildflowers are at their prime. Giddy up to green!

Save a Little Green: National Park Week runs through Sunday, allowing free access to all 392 parks. Save $5 per person on a trip through Muir Woods this weekend!

Spring Training

Join Team In Training (TNT) and guarantee your entry in this year's Nike Women's Marathon!

It's considered one of the most beautiful running courses in the world. And it always sells out. The Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco (Oct. 17) is so popular that registration is only secured by a lottery drawing. But there's another way to get into the race: Join Team In Training (TNT) and you're guaranteed a spot. And that's not the only edge you'll have. Get up to speed with TNT's phenomenal program. Busy folks benefit from structured training that doesn't waste time; regularly scheduled runs take the guesswork out of what and how much you need to be ready for the race. You'll also get tips on nutrition and post-run recovery. On race day, be inspired as a sea of purple takes to the course and winds its way through iconic vistas of San Francisco. Those on a more casual pace can pamper themselves at the mid-race pedi-care station or grab a pick-me-up on the "chocolate mile"! But the biggest reward is that you'll be helping those suffering from blood cancers. That's good reason to pound the pavement. (While it may be called a women's marathon, men are also welcome to join!) Get to a TNT information meeting to learn more.

BONUS: Nike Women's Marathon finishers receive a "medal": a silver necklace designed by Tiffany & Co. wrapped up in the signature blue box and presented by a man in a tuxedo. "I do!"

Upcoming information meeting dates in San Francisco, the East Bay, and the North Bay.

Upcoming information meeting dates in the Peninsula, the South Bay, Santa Cruz, and Monterey areas.
