Time Out

Happy holidays from Weekend Sherpa! Break up the holiday hoopla by taking a break in the great outdoors.

Hike Mount Livermore Angel Island

Work up your holly jollies during a 2-mile (one-way) hike to the top of Angel Island's Mount Livermore (pictured), where a holiday-powered nightlight beams like the North Star. Over in the East Bay, Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve in the Oakland Hills is an a-maze-ing place to contemplate some New Year's resolutions. Tucked into the preserve's backside, there's a quiet little labyrinth, framed by Mount Diablo, that's nice for some easy strolling. Reach it by walking .75 mile on the preserve's wide fire road. Got the whole family in town? A San Francisco stroll to a panoramic vantage featuring many classic icons keeps spirits bright. Enjoy the season.

Cheers!
