Dog Days of Summer
Beach Hound: For a little private time together, head for the less-visited South Rodeo Beach in Marin, where you can stroll the shoreline, explore tidepools, and chase driftwood.
Golden Retriever: Watch a sunrise over the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco’s Lands End Labyrinth. A thirty-minute stroll along the Coastal Trail—a prime section of what we call The Grand Walk—leads the way.
Sniff Test: Big, exposed, and wide open for walking, Sunol Regional Wilderness in the East Bay has plenty of space to roam, creeks to explore, and trees to sniff.
Dog Day Afternoon: Do you and the dog like to grab a drink after hiking? Then make it part of the outing by hiking the bluffs from Pillar Point to Moss Beach Distillery, where a large patio with fire-pits awaits.
Yappy Hour: Ditch the car and take a leisurely 3.5-mile (round-trip) stroll that connects two historic—and dog-friendly—wineries in Sonoma.
Fetch Me If You Can: Bring the Frisbee and tennis ball to well-off-the-beaten-path Dillon Beach, just north of Point Reyes. The mile-long stretch of beach is made for long walks, beautiful views, and lots of playtime.
One, Two, or Three Dog Night: Pitch a tent and set out the water bowl at one of Pantoll Campground's tent-only campsites on Mount Tam.
Wet Lick: Dogs are a part of the action when you join the flotilla fun of guiding your own raft down the Truckee River.
