Pirate Coast Paddle Popcorn Movie Nights
The Cineplex, an airplane, your living room…not all movie nights have to happen in closed spaces. This summer, paddle right up to a cinema on the beach! For the next few months, the creative folks at Pirate Coast Paddle Company are hosting Paddle & Popcorn movie nights at Pirate Coast Beach in The Newport Dunes. The next one is tomorrow (Friday, June 15), featuring The Princess Bride. It’s $25 for the SUP and cinema combo and a reservation is required (details below). Bring a chair or a blanket and meet at 7:15 p.m. Then set out for a sunset paddle on the protected waters of the Back Bay. Not so sure about your SUP acumen? The pirates can give you tips. If you take an unexpected dip, take heart—the water is warmer at night. You’ll be back on the shore in time to set up your seaside seating, grab a complimentary soda and popcorn, and run your toes through the sand as the giant outdoor screen comes to life. Kick back and watch the stars under the stars.

FULL MOON BONUS: During full moons, Pirate Coast Paddle Company captains a 90-minute stand-up-paddleboard adventure—complete with neon glowsticks and bioluminescent plankton.

The Newport Dunes is at 1131 Back Bay Dr. Paddle & Popcorn is $25 per person (includes soda, popcorn, evening dusk paddle, and the movie). Attending the movie without the stand-up paddleboard option is $10. Movie schedule: The Princess Bride on June 15; Up on July 21st; Toy Story on August 3; and Pirates of the Caribbean on August 31.
