Two-Wheel Wonders

According to the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA),
there are more than three million mountain bikers in our state. That's a lot of knobby tires, and balancing demand and supply is notIMBA always easy. IMBA works with local clubs like the Bicycle Trails Council of Marin (BTCM) and the Bicycle Trails Council of the East Bay (BTCEB) to keep responsible mountain biking trails open to the public. In Marin, the Tamarancho Trail—a velvety singletrack loop in the redwood forest by Mt. Tam—is a classic example of the BTCM working with private land owners to develop and sustain stellar riding. Along the Lost Coast, IMBA and Humboldt County's Big Foot Mountain Bike Club are constructing an epic, 45-mile point-to-point trail featuring two overnight campgrounds. And in Sonoma's Annadel State Park, IMBA has worked closely with park officials to shut down illegal trail building so that the park can remain open to bikers. IMBA operates globally to educate people about preservation and improve mountain biking experiences. Join the ride, click here.

Note: Some trails require memberships and/or fees. For directions and more information about specific trails and rides, contact California's IMBA affiliates.

Mike's Bikes, the Bay Area's premier bike retailer, wants to help you find the answer to this summertime question: what's your bike personality?
This week's bike personality: The All-Purpose Adventurer.

You want it all: Rocky trails, gravel paths, and coastal bikeways. You like comfort and flexibility when riding the rolling hills in China Camp and think fat tires are perfect for a Sunday afternoon spin around Golden Gate Park. The sights, the sounds, the feeling of being in the woods on a bicycle is your cure-all for stress. Yes. You want it all.

Sound like you? You're "The All-Purpose Adventurer." And the Mike's Bikes ride for you: the Cannondale F6. This jack-of-all-trails can take on whatever you feel like throwing at it. Reliable and strong, the Cannondale F6 is also lightweight, with a Rock Shox suspension fork that gives you confidence taking on the singletrack in Marin or the wide fire roads at Wilder Ranch. And you'll love the lockout, allowing you to turn off the suspension on your way to the trail. Dependability is the name of the game with the Cannondale. So go ahead: take on any terrain. Double-dare.
