Walk among rainbow-lit redwoods at Roaring Camp’s Sequoias at Night
Tucked next to brilliant Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in Santa Cruz, the folks at Roaring Camp Railroads had a bright idea: When the sun goes down, the rainbow lights come up. Sequoias at Night brings big magic to some of the tallest trees in the world.
Start your journey strolling through the throwback railroad town, watching the steam train depart and chug its way into the redwoods. As daylight fades, head toward the forest of coast redwoods, towering beauties native to Northern and Central California.
When darkness falls, stroll a three-quarter-mile loop that feels like a technicolor dream. Rainbow hues beam and shimmer across the redwoods as intricate jellyfish-shaped lanterns, bird cutouts, and other nature-inspired art festoon the trail. You're seeing more than red in these redwoods: brilliant blues, popping purples, and grand greens bathe the groves.
The Sequoias at Night event is for all ages and runs Fridays and Saturdays 8:30-10pm through October. More details are available on Roaring Camp’s website.
