Midtown Reno isn’t just having a moment—it’s building momentum. This eclectic district keeps evolving and refining its independent arts, food, and culture scene, all while maintaining its signature edge.
Pair a roughly one-mile (round-trip) mural-finding walk with cool cafes, thrifting stops, patio pubs, and locally owned shops that give distinctly Reno vibes.
Park near Old World Coffee on California Avenue and begin there. Be sure to stop in for one of the café’s in-house roasted specialty coffees. The modern-minimalist atmosphere still feels warm and community-centric. Grab a table and relax among locals and visitors—or take your coffee to go and start walking east toward South Virginia Street. Once you reach Virginia, head south.
This is prime mural territory, with colorful depictions covering entire building walls and sprawling across alleyways. Portrait murals and bold graphics bring big energy. Pop into local shops along the way.
Continuing south on Virginia, turn onto Mary Street to spot even more colorful murals in plain sight.
Stop at Parlay 6 Brewing for a food-and-drink break paired with patio seating (*check ahead to see hours). Beer is the go-to, ranging from American IPAs to Mexican lagers and German pilsners. There are plenty of other choices, including nonalcoholic drinks. The menu is equally tempting—from the Par Smash Burger to the Chicago-style corn dog (when in Reno!). Tip: Inclined Burgers and Brews is another good option for food and drinks, with a patio.
The Midtown Roundabout is a short walk from Parlay 6 and features a center sculpture and murals—perfect for the big group photo.
If you’re looking for yet another relaxing food-and-drink stop, The Fox Restaurant & Brewery (near the Midtown Roundabout) sits directly across from some of the area’s most impressive mural walls. Enjoy the rooftop patio with a Hazy Street beer and gorgeous Sierra views.
When you’ve had your fill of food, art, and shops, return the way you came or make your way back via Center Street for a more neighborhood feel.
