Happy Ending

Rivers End Cabins in Jenner

Everybody loves a happy ending. And one of the happiest endings in Northern California is where the Russian River empties into the Pacific. Get a front row seat to witness this wonder at River’s End in Jenner on the Sonoma Coast. It's better known for its charming waterfront restaurant and bar, but tucked right next to it are a clutch of riverfront cabins looking out to where the Russian River meets the Pacific. The cabin rooms, originally built in 1927, epitomize coziness with their rustic décor.

Three of the cabins have gas fireplaces, while a smaller cabin offers equally stellar views. A fifth room has full-size windows, including in the shower (put on your best birthday suit!). The highlight in all the cabins is private patios overlooking the artful sea-castles and sublime setting of the estuary and surrounding beaches. Kayakers cruise quietly by, and beachgoers stroll in the distance. You sit back in your chairs and take it all in, glass of wine in hand….

You’re in the heart of Jenner, so there’s no shortage of outdoor exploration—from renting a kayak and paddling the beginner-friendly waters to checking out famous Goat Rock Beach and iconic Arched Rock, a sea castle with a huge gape. For a superb hike in the area, there’s an 8-mile beach-to-beach hike along a bluffside trail, accented by the drama  sea stacks thrashed by waves. Mobile phone reception is spotty out here, so kick back, relax, and enjoy the off-grid cabin experience.

BONUS: Waterfront views and a superb wine list are part of a flavorful dining experience at River’s End.

River’s End Restaurant & Inn has four oceanfront cabins and one privately located oceanfront room. Rates start at $185 per night. Gas fireplaces are in Cabins 1, 2, and 4. Cabin 3 is smaller than the others but charming and overlooks the garden and ocean. Room 5 has full-size windows and is very private. No dogs in cabins or room.
