Wine O'Clock

Wine taste in Shasta County, CA

You’ll find no attitude, no fuss, and no wine tasting fee when visiting some of the down-to-earth wineries just outside Redding. Take Dakaro Cellars, beautifully set amid the Shasta Cascade countryside with charming deck and grounds for tasting.

Bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy with the wines. Owners David and Kathy Roth started their winery on a working sustainable ranch that feels like a charming throwback to the ’70s.

Here wine tasting is all about learning, discovering, expression, camaraderie, and a repertoire of choices. Try Rhone and Bordeaux varietals as well as Spanish and Italian wines. Actually, it’s pretty much anything goes here, in a good way—with wines like a (dare we say) low-alcohol Zin. We like the Tempranillo and the California Sangiovese. Cheers.

Dakaro is located at 29464 Big Spring Rd. in Whitmore, CA. Call ahead (530) 472-1962. Dog-friendly!
